Dancing To The Rhythm Of Life
"Throughout the process of healing, I try to level out the ups and downs of life. I try to take things in stride.
"One of the ECKists had a dream about an old ECK Master. He was going up a steep mountain with this chela and several other ECKists. Chela simply means 'spiritual student'. The ECKists would run up the mountain ahead of the old Master, then they'd get to a rock, sit down, and rest by a little tree. Pretty soon the Master would come along; his pace was slow and deliberate. He'd keep right on going, moving very steadily up the mountain. So then the students would jump up again and race up the mountain.
"They'd sometimes run a little bit, and then they'd walk fast. Again they'd get ahead of the Master and sit down. Pretty soon here came the old Master again, slow and patient. He kept right on going, smiling and happy; his energy seemed good.
"When the spiritual students had rested, they jumped up again. When they finally got to the top of this mountain, they were exhausted. Very shortly the old Master arrived at the top, smiling and walking very steadily. He had a good pace and rhythm.
"One woman asked him, 'What's your secret? How can you make life go so well even though it's tiring us out?'
"He said,'Dancing to the rhythm of life. Dancing to the rhythm of life.'
"But before you can dance to the rhythm of life, you have to be aware that there is a rhythm. You have to know when you have bumped into the fence on the left or the fence on the right. And you have to know when you have broken right through the fence and gone completely off the path."
